A Portrait of Froude as an older man
Froude was born in 1810 and lived unti1 1879. He was the son of the rector of Dartington. He lived up to the age of 69 and died while on a visit to South Africa. Here he was involved in the South Devon pneumatic railway. Later he became more well known for his work on fluid dynamics and ship design.
