The History of Trams
The first trams were seen in Torbay in 1907. Holidaymakers in particular enjoyed riding on them. The power was supplied from a groove at the bottom of the rail. This was lethal, as horses might be electrocuted! Therefore it was not long before overhead power lines were installed. In fact the trams had a fairly short life being replaced by buses in 1934.
