'I Am Innocent!'
In passing the death sentence, the judge Mr Justice Manisty remarked upon the prisoner's calm demeanor during the trial.
John Lee seized the opportunity to speak out for the first time by replying: 'The reason why I am so calm is that I trust in my Lord and he knows that I am innocent'.
