Victorian Royal Visits
Victoria made her first visit to Torquay in 1833 and had tea at the Glen on Babbacombe Beach. The owner, Elizabeth Whitehead had acted as governess to the infant Victoria in 1820 when the princess' father the Duke of Kent passed away whilst the Royal Family were staying at Sidmouth.
