Moored Up
This picture shows some trawlers moored with their sails left up, as they were on calm days. At the turn of the century 385 trawlers were based in Brixham. However they would work out in the North or Irish seas so that, on many occasions, there would be few at home in Brixham. The trawlers were managed by just three men and a boy. These trawlers would probably have a small auxiliary diesel engine to get them into port if need be.
